If your business has a bad review that you want gone, the first thing to do is examine the review for violations in Yelp’s Content Guidelines and contact them regarding this. Otherwise, the unfortunate reality of the situation is that there is not much you can do. Yelp is a highly reputable platform that is designed for the use of the consumer, and they do not remove reviews unless the reviews violate terms and conditions of the site. Basically, it’s impossible to delete reviews because it would completely unoptimize the site.

An issue that many business-owners have run into when dealing with Yelp, is that the company’s algorithm for filtering fake reviews is faulty. The system has no way to differentiate an actual fake review from a review that just appears fake, and as a result, a lot of authentic praise is subject to being filtered, and consequently hidden from the businesses’ page.

This doesn’t mean you should give up on Yelp – there are still a lot of ways to work with their system, and get good reviews that won’t be filtered! Encouraging your customers to rate you, and always providing genuine customer care, are just a few of the ways that you can be proactively working on your business’s Yelp reputation.
